How to have a life and a business

Are you a career mom, business leader, or entrepreneur trying to do it all? As women we tend to juggle all the things (motherhood, work, and family) – am I right? – while still pushing forward on our own success and striving for more time and freedom in our lives.

It is downright exhausting and overwhelming to think about how to improve the situation and add our dreams to the mix – where do you even begin?

It’s possible. Yet how do you make it happen without sacrificing one part of your life for another? The road to success lies in learning effective time management skills that will enable you to have a life, career, and a business. In this blog post, I will share concrete tips on how all working women can achieve balance across their professional and personal goals.

6 Strategies to Maximize Efficiency

1. Prioritize your time – make sure you set aside some time for yourself each day

2. Use a calendar or to-do list to help you stay organized and on track

3. Make sure you take regular breaks throughout the day to remain productive

4. Utilize technology to streamline processes and make things easier on yourself

5. Outsource where possible so that you can focus on what matters most to you

6. Practice self-care – take time for yourself, eat well, and exercise regularly

Prioritize your time – make sure you set aside some time for yourself each day.

It’s essential to prioritize your time – after all, there are only so many hours in a day! But while you’re making sure you tackle that to-do list, don’t forget to set aside time for yourself each day. Whether it’s fifteen minutes of meditation, a quick workout, or even just enjoying a cup of tea in peace, taking a little recharge can work wonders for your mental and physical health. If writing isn’t your thing you find simple tools that make focusing your day easier, like Simpleology or Todoist. Whether you prefer a physical planner or a digital app, make it a habit to update it regularly and prioritize your tasks. Not only will it make your life easier, but it will also give you a sense of accomplishment as you check off items from your to-do list.

So go ahead, and schedule in some “me time” each day – your future self will thank you!

Use a calendar to help you stay organized and on track.

Staying organized can be challenging, but it doesn’t have to be with the help of a calendar or integration tool. Yes, they have been around forever – but are you using your calendar effectively? Most calendars now include integration settings that enable you to blend your busy schedule into a single calendar, like CalendarBridge (try for free with: ZFj8e). Incorporate time blocking techniques to claim some of your time back or use apps like Reclaim or Motion to have the work done for you!

Using tools to reduce overwhelm and craft your day will help you stay focused and motivated to achieve your goals.

Make sure you take regular breaks throughout the day to remain productive

Taking regular breaks throughout the day is essential to maintaining productivity. While it may seem counterintuitive, studies have shown that taking breaks can actually improve cognitive function and overall focus. This is because the brain needs time to rest and recharge to perform at its best. It’s essential to prioritize breaks into your daily schedule, whether a five-minute walk outside, a quick stretch, or closing your eyes and taking a few deep breaths. In a recent article by Psychology Today, it explored why taking a walk (or even a shower) can help you to be more creative. Similarly, using breathing techniques, such as the 5-5-5 method or HeartMath® techniques that I cover with my clients can help to reduce stress and bring greater focus.

By taking these small breaks, you can return to your work more focused and energized. Remember, breaks are not a waste of time but an investment in your productivity.

Utilize technology to streamline processes and make things easier for yourself.

In today’s world, technology plays a crucial role in our daily lives, and utilizing it to streamline processes can make things so much easier for us. If you’re tired of spending countless hours on tedious tasks, consider exploring the technological options available. From automated email responses to project management software, many resources are designed to simplify and improve workflow. With some research, you can find tools that fit your specific needs and allow you to work smarter, not harder. In my course, Leader to Legacy, we cover how to leverage technology more effienciently and how to use resources, such as ChatGPT and Jasper.ai effectively to help boost productivity.

So don’t hesitate to embrace technology and take advantage of all the benefits it has to offer!

Outsource where possible so that you can focus on what matters most to you.

Outsourcing is no longer a foreign concept. It’s a commonly-used practice among startups and SMEs. Why is that? Because it saves time, resources, and money. Outsourcing can provide significant benefits, whether it’s content writing, web development, or social media management. By delegating non-core tasks to professionals, you can devote your attention and energy to what matters most. You can focus on growing your business, developing new ideas, and building client relationships. Outsourcing enables you to work smarter, not harder, and achieve your goals faster.

So, consider outsourcing where possible if you want to be more productive and successful. You won’t regret it!

Practice self-care – take time for yourself, eat well, and exercise regularly

Self-care is an essential aspect of our lives but often gets overlooked as we try to manage the chaos of our daily routines. Yes, it is worth listing twice! Neglecting our needs and well-being occurs when other responsibilities take priority and we start lowering the value of our own needs. However, taking time for yourself, eating well, and exercising regularly can significantly impact your physical and mental health. Incorporating small self-care practices into your daily routine can initially feel daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. It can be as simple as taking a 10-minute walk during your lunch break or cooking yourself a nutritious meal for dinner. In my mini-course, Rituals for Success, I cover simple ways that you can build self-care into your routine and start creating pockets of joy for you life. This is the key to leading a successful and flourishing life.

Remember, taking care of yourself isn’t selfish; it’s necessary.

Are you ready to begin?

Remember, reprioritizing your schedule and ensuring that you dedicate some time each day for yourself can go a long way in helping manage your time at work. Additionally, don’t forget about utilizing technology to streamline processes whenever possible. Whether organizing tasks on a to-do list or outsourcing small tasks to free up more time, take advantage of those options. Finally, self-care is always key – taking breaks throughout the day and staying healthy will help keep you focused and productive during work hours. So go schedule that massage, a book, that yoga class, or plan a weekend getaway — whatever it is that makes YOU feel healthy and energized — as life’s too short not to reap the rewards!
